Metal Framework for the Giant Christmas Tree

The inner structure is built from multiple circular metal rings connected vertically to form the tapered shape of the tree. The frame carries the weight of the artificial branches, ornaments, and lighting system while maintaining the overall form of the installation.

For a tree of this scale, the metal framework also needs to remain stable throughout an outdoor seasonal display. The circular sections distribute the load across the structure and provide multiple fixing points for the decorative layers.

Ground Anchoring for Outdoor Stability

The main frame is secured to the installation area through multiple ground anchoring points. These connections hold the base of the tree firmly in position and support the structure during the outdoor display period.

Ground conditions, tree dimensions, expected weather conditions, and the surrounding public area all need to be considered when determining the anchoring method for a large Christmas tree.

Modular Assembly for On-Site Installation

The tree frame is divided into modular sections that can be manufactured before delivery and then assembled at the project site. This makes a very large structure easier to transport, position, lift, and connect.

Cranes and lifting equipment are used to raise the larger frame sections into position. The sections are connected progressively until the full tapered structure is complete.

From Metal Structure to Christmas Tree

Once the main frame is assembled and secured, installation moves to the decorative stage. Artificial branches are fitted across the metal structure first, followed by ornaments and the lighting system.

Installing the Greenery

Thousands of artificial branches are installed across the frame to cover the underlying metal structure and create the full outline of a traditional Christmas tree.

The branches are installed layer by layer around the structure. Careful placement helps maintain consistent coverage from the base to the upper sections and prevents large gaps from appearing when the tree is viewed from different directions.

The greenery is also selected for extended outdoor display so that the finished tree can maintain its color and appearance throughout the Christmas season.

Placing the Christmas Ornaments

Red, gold, silver, and other traditional Christmas ornaments are distributed across the surface after the greenery is in place. Ornament size and spacing are adjusted according to the scale of the tree so that individual decorations remain visible from ground level.

The ornaments are positioned across different heights and depths rather than being concentrated only on the outer surface. This gives the finished tree a fuller appearance when viewed from different sides.

Each ornament is secured individually to the structure to reduce movement during the outdoor display period.

Installing the Nighttime Lighting

After the branches and main decorations are fitted, the lighting system is distributed across the tree. At night, the lights reveal the full height and outline of the installation while making the ornaments more visible from a distance.

The illuminated tree became a major evening gathering point for families, visitors, photographers, and seasonal events in the surrounding public area.

How the Tree Supported Seasonal Activity

The tree also played a commercial role during the Christmas period. Its scale and nighttime visibility brought more visitor activity into the surrounding area and gave nearby businesses additional exposure during evening hours.

Visibility Beyond the Installation Site

The completed Christmas tree was frequently photographed and shared online. Its height, lighting, and recognizable seasonal appearance made it easy to identify in photos and short videos taken around the site.

This extended the visibility of the installation beyond the people who visited the square directly and gave the city’s Christmas activities additional exposure during the festive season.

A Seasonal Meeting Point

The open area around the tree became a natural meeting and photography point for families, children, groups of friends, and other visitors.

Returning to the tree, taking photos, and attending events around the installation became part of the seasonal activity associated with the site.

For a large public Christmas project, this type of repeated use is important. The installation is seen throughout the season rather than only during a single opening event.

What This Project Required from the Installation Team

Building a giant Christmas tree of this scale required several different types of work to be coordinated within the same project. The installation included:
