Romantic Hangang Christmas Market
Introduction
Set along the banks of Seoul’s Han River, the Romantic Hangang Christmas Market has become a popular seasonal destination during the Christmas period.
Holilite created several of the event’s signature lighting installations, including a giant illuminated Christmas tree, immersive gift-box photo zones, and a large New Year light display.
Through a combination of decorative lighting, large-scale structures, and detailed fabrication, the riverside venue was transformed into a warm and colorful winter setting for families, couples, and visitors.
Project Overview
The Christmas Market brings together festive food stalls, themed shops, interactive activities, and riverside walking areas, creating a lively setting throughout the holiday season.
Holilite was responsible for the lighting design, fabrication, and installation of the event’s main visual features.
The lighting installations were developed to work with the natural surroundings and the urban skyline along the Han River while giving the market a clear Christmas identity after dark.
Design Highlights
Giant LED Christmas Tree
The giant LED Christmas tree stands at the center of the event, covered with thousands of lights, colorful ornaments, and a glowing star at the top.
Dynamic lighting sequences bring movement to the tree throughout the evening, while its large scale makes it visible from different areas of the park.
As the main Christmas feature of the market, the tree also provides a clear visual centerpiece for the surrounding decorations and visitor areas.
Immersive Illuminated Gift Boxes
Oversized illuminated gift boxes in gold and red are arranged around the central Christmas tree.
Visitors can walk around the installations, take photos, and view the decorations from different angles.
Their large size and bright colors create an interactive photo area next to the main tree and add more depth and variety to the surrounding Christmas display.
New Year Light Sculpture
A large illuminated New Year display extends the festive theme beyond Christmas and adds another visual feature to the riverside market.
The bright numerical design stands out clearly at night and has become a popular background for year-end photos and gatherings.
Placed within the wider Christmas lighting display, it creates a natural transition from the Christmas celebrations into the New Year period.
Integration with the Han River Nightscape
The lighting installations were arranged to work with the existing nightscape along the Han River.
Reflections on the water, lights from nearby bridges, and the Seoul skyline remain visible around the Christmas displays, giving the market a distinctive riverside setting.
After dark, the illuminated tree, gift boxes, and New Year installation become part of the wider city view.
